A story untold...
A sign from Dawn....

I organised a charity night two years ago today. It came from deep inside me, a desire to do something positive but this also came out from the deepest grief I have ever been through, four people three all younger than me a lot younger and were taken home to be  angels to look after us here.

This is just a little bit of what happened on the night,a very certain sign that I was being given  from 'Dawn'.

We received some wonderful prizes.

One of our silent auction prizes was a large painting from a local artist Michael Starkey.
It was delivered the evening before.
It was an amazing painting that brought an amazing poignancy to the event.

I loved the singer Eva Cassidy, and Fields of Gold was also one of my favourite songs all week leading up to the event I was looking for my audio tape to play, but couldnt find it so my friend let me borrow her copy. I also loved I know you by heart the whole album was so very peaceful.

My 'niece' had passed away in February two days before my other friend had been taken from us. Both of them loved red, this may sound a bit morbid but Dawn was buried in red and my friend Jo actually wore red on her last night alive. They both had an amazing vibrancy about them.

The night before the event I stayed in the hotel and my friend was bringing the painting to me there, It was all wrapped in thick packed bubble wrap. I didn't know what to expect,so when I got the bedroom I had decided to take the wrapper from the painting.

On doing so there before me was a sight I was not ready for; a blue sky with a field of golden barley, with a young person in a red dress walking through the barley! I sat back on my hotel bed and cried....
I looked on the reverse of the painting to read, Jurby last summer, theme based on song ‘Fields of Gold’.
I sat in amazement. I rang Win, I rang my son Ian who was on his way down to see me. Then I rang my friend who was so thrilled for me, she said that was Dawn giving me a sign. I truly beleive it was.

This was a sign to let me know that I was not alone in my quest to raise funds, for a good cause.

With everything laid in place we had also managed to have time to get ourselves ready and persuaded our men guests to wear Black tie.

On the evening was a local photographer Andrew Barton taking photographs of all guests arriving.
I was so pleased, everyone looked so amazing.
The night was an amazing success. The raffle went down really well and we were so shocked at the amount of tickets we actually sold.

The silent auction was astounding. We had quite a few prizes to be bid for and it was so successful. My self and my righthand Amanda Mcmullin read out the Silent Auction winners. The final winner was for the painting and the bid was for a really large amount.
The my son’s friend came onto the floor and took the microphone out of my hand. She then announced that the highest bidder for the painting was no longer for the gentleman on the card,, but Pauline my friend and son Ian,had gone round the whole room, getting pledges for the painting and outbid this man, so that I could have the painting.!!!!
I was in so much shock I didn’t know what to do.She then announced that the bidder had donated the bidding amount too!!!
The whole room stood up clapping!! I was overwhelmed with emotion. The amount of love, in the room at that moment in time, oh to be able to even bottle it.

that was to be one of the best night's of my life. I have never seen so many people have such a good laugh, and see so many people dig deep in their pockets.

But to also know that there was an angel there looking over me and guarding me through the whole night.
